I was excited to be chosen to photograph Kathryn and Nick’s Waterton Park wedding as they were such lovely people and had picked one of my favourite venues.
Kathryn and Nick got married on a gloriously sunny October day at Waterton Park in Wakefield. Waterton Park Hotel & Spa and Walton Hall is a unique wedding venue with Walton Hall, a stunning manor building situated on an island in a lake, accessible from the main hotel building via a bridge, making a fantastic backdrop for pictures. Kathryn and Nick’s vision for the day was Autumnal colours, not the unseasonal sunshine!
Getting ready
Kathryn got ready at Waterton Park with her three bridesmaids and mum, only needing to walk down the beautiful staircase to the ceremony room. Bridal hair and make-up were by Emma Harper www.pokadot.co.uk. Kathryn arranged a surprise for Nick and had a DeLorean to bring him to Waterton Park, as he’s a massive Back to the Future fan.
The whole day was unique to the bride and groom with lots of little details selected to reflect their personalities. A beautiful reading during their ceremony happened to be the lyrics to a specific rock song played at the first gig they attended together.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom posed with the Delorean before it went and had some photographs on the bridge and a relaxed walk around the grounds to capture the colours and romance of the day.
The speeches revealed that Nick’s guilty pleasure was Britney Spears. His best man had everyone in stitches, including me!
The only detail missing from their day was their Husky dog Sansa, so I thought until I spotted a miniature version on their wedding cake as well as intricately detailed Autumn leaves.
After the speeches and the meal, we took advantage of the golden hour to take some more couple portraits.
