Last Summer Chloe Hought from Hart Country Weddings contacted me to ask if I’d like to be involved in a styled wedding shoot at East Riddlesden Hall. Whilst Summer is always very busy for everyone involved in the wedding industry (apart from this year), I really wanted to be involved be in the shoot because it’s a local wedding venue to me where I love working. As it is a National Trust property, the different gardens are incredibly well maintained and look beautiful all year round.
The most ideal light for photographing people using natural light is known as the golden hour which is just before sunset (or sunrise). The light has a golden colour and is low and directional as well as soft and flattering. When we started the shoot, we had the golden glow before the sun disappeared behind the trees. I knew we would be working quite late so brought a selection of different lighting options with me to cover any eventuality.
Our models were a real couple called Roxy and Aiden who were in the middle of planning their own wedding. Working with a real couple is much easier than models because they have a genuine connection.
One of the suppliers involved in the shoot, Luminest provides venue lighting and brought a selection of different items for the shoot. I am a huge fan of Edison bulbs and loved their neon “Crazy in love” sign and was excited to play!
Chloe arranged for the results of our collaboration to appear in two publications, with a three page spread in Your Yorkshire Wedding Magazine for January/February 2020 and a two page spread in Love Our Wedding Magazine for January/February 2020.
