Rudding Park weddings

Alice and Chris’ transatlantic love affair saw a simple official ceremony last September at a courthouse in New Orleans in Alice’s native United States of America.
Just over a year later they had an intimate wedding blessing at Harrogate’s Rudding Park.

It was my first visit as a wedding photographer to Rudding Park, only a short drive through beautiful English countryside on a quiet Sunday morning.

I met Alice and the girls for bridal prep in a ground floor suite which had a patio in the grounds allowing me to photograph the dress outside (aided by a very helpful bridesmaid). The girls were ready in plenty of time allowing me to meet the boys for their final preparations, Groom Chris and his father Yves put their buttonholes on outside the on site Chapel where the ceremony was taking place.

The Mother-of-the-bride walked her down the aisle to her adoring husband, with the extremely amenable Father Ian officiating. The ceremony included performances by Chris’ brother John playing the organ and Alice’s super talented mother Kristie singing.

Alice’s mother and step father had flown from Alabama, bringing the sunshine with them on their first trip to North Yorkshire.

Following the nuptials, the bride and groom exited the chapel for confetti and to be congratulated by their guests.

We didn’t have far to walk in the grounds to experience the stunning landscape. I happily work with flash as well as natural light using a combination to get a selection of different pictures for the couple using a combination of wide angle and zoom lenses. The kitchen garden was a favourite of the groom with a large selection of fruits and vegetables growing.

Group shots were taken in the shade by the library during the drinks reception. With the speeches replaced by very heartfelt American style toasts. There was so much love, it was especially emotional as the couple are moving to the States in the new year to start their next adventure.

I was blessed to be chosen as Alice and Chris’ wedding photographer and hope to visit Rudding Park again soon.
