Red Lion Burnsall Wedding | Marie + Adam
I love Burnsall because it’s one of my favourite places to visit. The rolling hills, river and village green remind me of summer, ice-cream and the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. So I was really looking forward to photographing Marie and Adam’s Red Lion Burnsall Wedding in May.
The Red Lion in Burnsall is a family run 16th-century pub, restaurant and hotel in the Yorkshire Dales set on the banks of the River Wharfe.
Red Lion Burnsall Wedding
Marie, mum and her two bridesmaids started getting ready at one of the cottages with amazing views of Burnsall bridge, the River Wharfe and Burnsall Fell. Whilst Marie was having her make-up done we spotted Adam heading out for a walk over the bridge. Once hair and make-up were complete, we nipped across to the main building for Marie to get her wedding dress on.
I met the boys as they were enjoying a drink just before the ceremony and the guests were starting to arrive. The registrars from North Yorkshire are always the nicest registrars to work with!
Wedding photographs
At The Red Lion Burnsall we are spoilt for choice with beautiful backdrops for wedding photographs with the riverside, bridge and village green all within a short walk. Canapes and drinks are served by the river making it really easy to gather people for group shots.
The Red Lion
The Red Lion Burnsall was the perfect wedding venue for Marie and Adam as they (Adam especially) love the great outdoors and adventures. It’s an informal relaxed venue with lots of beautiful walks. A great place to return to for wedding anniversaries.
My favourite part of the day
Throughout the day it was obvious that Marie’s parents were very close to her and her sister. I watched them stood watching their girls on the dancefloor with tears in their eyes.
Random facts
Marie’s mum gave me a pair of shoes I spent a little while photographing because she thought they were Marie’s – they weren’t!
I bumped into an old friend I went to college with when I was sat outside during the wedding breakfast. We studied Graphic Design for print at Leeds College of Technology together!
