Many years ago, when I was just getting back into photography, I was a guest at a wedding. After the ceremony, Darren (who was the Groom) had the look of a man who had won the best prize in the world ever – that’s why I photograph weddings. I’ve become soft since having my babies, and like to live in a bubble of happy, there are so many bad things that happen in the world, but there are also so many beautiful, heart wrenchingly sweet things that happen every day.
Photographing weddings is something I do because I so completely love it, the excitement of seeing the dress, the shoes but most importantly the relationships and connections between people. Some families are more complicated than others but at the end of the day there is love. I have photographed weddings with 2 dads or just one amazing step-dad or mum, or son – no two are ever the same. Two dads that got along amazingly with love for their shared daughter was the sweetest thing to ever witness. Weddings are about family and special people.
When I go to edit each wedding, although it’s the least fun part of being a wedding photographer, it’s beautiful to re-live the day, see the smiles and see the tears.
